WebFLASh (Fast Length Adjustment of SHort reads) is an accurate and fast tool to merge paired-end reads that were generated from DNA fragments whose lengths are shorter than twice the length of reads. Merged read pairs result in unpaired longer reads, which are generally more desired in genome assembly and genome analysis processes. WebApr 14, 2011 · Mapping of bisulfite-treated sequences to a reference genome constitutes a significant computational challenge due to the combination of: (i) the reduced complexity of the DNA code; (ii) up to four DNA strands to be analysed; and (iii) the fact that each read can theoretically exist in all possible methylation states.
WebMar 31, 2015 · FLASH (Fast Length Adjustment of SHort reads) is a very fast and accurate software tool to merge paired-end reads from next-generation sequencing experiments. FLASH is designed to merge pairs of reads when the original DNA fragments are shorter than twice the length of reads. The resulting longer reads can significantly improve … FLASH requires as input a fastq library of paired-end reads in which at least some of the reads overlap the read generated from the opposite end of the same DNA fragment. It processes each read pair separately and searches for the correct overlap between the paired-end reads. When the correct overlap is found, … See more Thanks to the rapidly dropping cost of DNA sequencing technologies, de novo whole-genome sequencing (WGS) projects are generating very deep coverage of new … See more The short read lengths generated by next-generation sequencing technologies are the biggest challenge in assembling genomes into large, near-complete sequences. To tackle … See more We tested the correctness of FLASH using both simulated and real data, and compared it for speed and correctness to SHERA (Rodrigue et al., 2010), the only other existing tool that combines paired-end reads from short … See more
